WGSA MUSE Awards open for submissions

The Writers Guild of South Africa has announced that it is now accepting submissions for the 4th annual Muse awards. Created with the aim of supporting and recognizing excellence in the local TV , Film, and entertainment industry.

Submissions can be produced and unproduced scripts but unproduced work that is also not registered will be disqualified.

Entries that fall within these categories will be accepted

  • Feature films between 75-130 pages in length
  • Short films ranging from a few seconds up to 50 minutes long
  • Television : Drama, Sitcom, comedy, telenovela
  • Documentaries
  • Scripted series
  • Stage play
  • Radio drama
  • Animation
  • Games and web series

An entry fee of R100 per script must accompany every submission

The MUSE awards are open only to WGSA members whose membership fees are fully paid. Scripts previously entered into any other competition are accepted.

How To Submit

Download the entry form, fill out and return to admin@writersguildsa.org together with the following documentation:

Proof of payment of the R100 non-refundable entry fee

Your script in pdf format – the script must have a title, and must contain your WGSA MEMBERSHIP NUMBER. All your personal contact, including your name must be removed from the script to ensure a free and fair judging process. If it is an unproduced work, it must contain your WGSA Registration number.

There is no limit to the number of entries an entrant may submit, however, in the case of a series or serial, only one episode from that series by the same writer may be entered per category

The 2016 WGSA MUSE Awards will take place on 11 February 2017.
